Friends of First Stop,
In the midst of this Coronavirus pandemic, we are taking measures to keep our friends, clients, and staff safe.
Some of our meal providers are being cautious by fixing their meals and dropping them off at First Stop so we, the staff, can serve the meals to our clients. With many of our providers in the age group that seems most affected, we think this is a prudent plan and fully support it. If you plan to use this approach, please drop Joy or myself a note so we can be prepared (Joy: email@example.com and Tim: firstname.lastname@example.org ).
We are requiring all of our clients to wash and sanitize their hands when they enter the Day Center (206 Stokes). We have posted numerous reminders to wash hands. When available, we are placing hand sanitizer all around the Day Center. We have been gifted with additional patio furniture and as the weather permits, we are encouraging our clients to sit outside for their meals and socializing --- this lowers the number of people in the dining room and gives more social space to all. Daily, we are scrubbing and sanitizing tables, chairs, showers, toilets, all counter surfaces, and most everything anyone can touch.
Staff, of course, is encouraged to wash and sanitize hands frequently. We have established a liberal sick leave policy (we offer 10 days per year). We are allowing staff to carry negative balances as needed. We want the staff to stay home when ill and to take care of their children when they are ill.
Today our Executive Committee, with Outreach participants, is meeting to set up a plan for our trips to the camps. When these decisions are reached, I will be sure to pass them along.
In the meantime, we need your help on three items: We are running out of toilet paper, bottled water, and hand sanitizer. If you can help with any of these, please drop them off at the Day Center.
Take good care of yourself; be healthy.
