Outreach

The journey from homelessness to independent, sustainable living begins with building trust. First Stop’s dedicated Outreach Team coordinates with the City of Huntsville and agency partners to conduct weekly visits to the camps and streets, where they distribute care packs of essential items, offer referrals to partner organizations, and provide Case Management services. By engaging directly with the homeless community in their environment, we aim to encourage them to visit our Day Center, where further support and assistance await.

Day Center
Services

First Stop’s Day Center connects homeless individuals to several important services and resources. Our facility is open to the homeless community during the day when most other shelters in the area are closed. This provides an important positive and productive environment and atmosphere, while helping to connect homeless individuals to helpful services and people.

Enrichment Programs

We work with community partners and volunteer instructors to provide enrichment education, skills workshops, and mentoring support to our clients. Our goal? To empower our clients with the essential skills required to transition from homelessness to independent, sustainable living.

Case Management

As members of the homeless community frequent the First Stop Day Center for services and support, they begin to learn about opportunities to work with Case Management. Our full-time Case Managers take a personalized approach, collaborating with clients to create an Individual Service Plan. This serves as a roadmap, guiding them through the steps needed to exit homelessness, and move back to independent living.

Enrichment Programs

We work with community partners to provide enrichment, education, mentoring, support, and housing assistance. Our goal? To position clients in healthy, financially stable, living situations and create permanent changes in the lives of homeless individuals in the Huntsville community. We define and measure this goal as being housed for 2 consecutive years with First Stop follow-up assistance.
